Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Bleeding In The Mouth
Hi, can I answer your health question? Please type your question here...
I swallowed a sharp piece of corn chip and two days later a too big crispy piece of carnitas. Ever since then I've had a sore throat and I taste blood when I swallow. Any thoughts?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
A sore throat and blood like the taste after swallowing very hard food can be due to injury to the throat and food pipe mucosa. Inflammation and slight bleeding can occur due to it. It will, however, heal on its own.
If there is a pain, then you can take Ibuprofen, which reduces pain and infection as well. You can also take Sucralfate which provides a protective layer over the injured lining of the food pipe. Along with medication, you should also take soft meals and drink plenty of water. Do not drink cold water and avoid spicy foods.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
