I came up with a summer cod, not harsh, but ended up with a sore throat. I saw ny primary Dr. Reeb last Friday. He prescribed Levofloxacin 500 MG and Prednizone. On my 5th day of those meds. Throat is not doing any better although the cold is gone. What do you think?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your query, you have sorethroat despite taking medicines. It is due to persistence of respiratory tract infection. I would suggest you to avoid taking outside food and do warm saline gargles.
Take steam inhalation twice daily. Avoid intake of cold beverages and sharp spicy food. Visit an ENT specialist once and get it examined. Go for blood and throat swab test and start treatment accordingly.
Take proper course of antibiotics along with anti-inflammatory medicines. Take throat lozenges.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
