Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat , Headache And Ear Pain

I came on with some symptoms rapidly, and I m wondering if I have LPR! I have a feeling of constant drainage in my throat, a sore throat and both of my ears hurt a little. I also have a little headache. I have had these symptoms for the past 5 days and I think I need to see a specialist. I have never had heartburn, but I feel terrible. Does this sound like LPR to you?? Thank you!

Hi Dear ,

As per your query you have sore throat , headache and ear pain and you are also suffering from laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR). Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons like strep throat , viral pharyngitis and acid reflux . But in your case it seems to me that the symptoms are probably due to both upper respiratory track infection and LPR . Sometimes infection from upper respiratory track spread to ear through eustachian tube and cause infection there . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis . Doctor may order throat swab test , viral culture test and examination with laryngoscope . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin or penicillin ) , anti inflammatory and decongestants along with expectorant . Doctor may also refer you to gastroenterologist ifhe/she find problem to be related with acid reflux . For now do warm saline gargles and take ibuprofen of acetaminophen for pain .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
