Hello, my partner has what we think a cold he has an extremely sore throat he can barely speak its hurting him to swallow drink and eat...just he coughed and he coughed up an orange/red lump it was sticky and gooey, it was slightly thicker than phlegm and it was an orangey red colour just wanted to know as he is waiting to get into the doctors thank you
Hi, thanks for your query. In my opinion, your friend might be having throat infection. Blood stained orange colour phlegm is normal because of congestion in throat. If I were your treating doctor, I would have prescribed penicillin antibiotics + anti inflammatory medicines like paracetamol + diclofenac combination drugs twice daily for 5 to 7 days. Betadine gargling twice daily will help. All these are prescription medicines, so I would advise you to consult with the doctor and get evaluated. Hope my answers have helped you. Thanks.
