Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 10 ten year old son was playing football last Thursday, he was on the receiving end of a two footed tackle which smashed into his left foot. A couple of months ago he had a pot on this foot because of a crack to the inside of his ankle under the same circumstances. I took him to A&E and after 3 hours and 5 xrays was told by a nurse that she didn t think it was broken , which hasn t instilled me with a lot of confidence. It is 4 days later and he still can t bear weight on it and he is getting spasmodic sharp pains in his ankle which cause him to shout out. There is no bruising and very, very slight swelling. He is using crutches. Do you think like me that we need a second opinion or are these symptoms of a spain?
From the details you have provided, its mostly sprain. But its good to have a second opinion because some times very fine fracture may be missed. If Doctor says no fracture, then it's more authentic.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Phanindra Dulipala, Diabetologist
