Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have recently sprained my wrist from falling over. It has been a few days now and it Is still swollen, sore and sometimes itchy. Yes I have been to a doctor, all he said was that it was a sprain but I wanna know the side effects and what a sprain or my sprain is.
Hi,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that you sprained your wrist . Sprain means ligaments are stretched or broken. Ligaments are structures (say ropes) which joins one bone to another bone around joints. In sprain these ropes are either loosened(stretched )or broken. So joints become unstable and painful. Its treatment in splintage by plaster and analgesics such as ibuprofen for pain relief. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it. I do hope that you have found something helpful. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries. Wishing you good health. Take care.
