My 18 year old daughter was diagnosed with staph in the throat in the ER last night. Her tonsils were covered in puss and actually turned black and were bleeding really bad. They did not swab her, just gave her a shot of vancomycin and told her to stay in bed. I have never in my life seen anything as awful looking and am very worried. I also drank after her a few days prior, will I get it as well? and is that shot enough to cure her. They also gave her a rinse to keep her throat from bleeding.
