Suggest Treatment For Stomach Bloating And Abdominal Pain In A Child

I have a daughter 11 years old who over the last few days is complaining that she is not able to eat every time she has a few bites she feels bloated and full and her stomach hurts. She seems very low on energy and has not been herself over the last few days not interested in doing anything. What could this be... she is a pretty healthy eater.... eats berries, veggies, fish but nothing is making her want to eat.

Hi,

Welcome to health care magic,

Feeling boated in stomach or fullness in stomach could be related to dyspepsia, constipation or acute gastritis but it needs further evaluation by clinical examination and various tests to have confirmed diagnosis.

If your daughter's symptoms are not so troublesome then i can suggest you some medications and dietary precautions to get relieved from this bloating.

1) Proton pump inhibitors (pantoprazole 40 or rabeprazole 20)

2) H2 blockers like Rantac150

3) Syrup digene 2 TSF three times a day

4) Avoid hot, oily and spicy foods rather take bland diet for initial few days

5) Avoid eating full stomach one at a time rather take small and frequent meals.

6) Have soft diet only for next 2 to 3 days

7) Take salads (cucumber, cabbage, carrot, beat) in the meal, more take vegetables

If still there is gas trouble then ultrasound abdomen and upper GI endoscopy should be done which might give some clue regarding further treatment.

Consult physician or gastroenterologist for further advice.
