Suggest Treatment For Stomach Flu, Diarrhea And Vomiting
I had a stomach bug last week. Throwing up and diarrhea Monday night into Tuesday morning. Lasted just about 12 hours, but left me weak and tired for another day or two. Low grade fever too. Today, several days later, I no longer have diarrhea or vomiting, but am still nauseous and still have stomach cramps/burning sensation in belly. My BM s and diet are back to normal. Is this normal?
Hi, Gastroenteritis or stomach flu is mostly due to viral or bacterial infection. If you are feeling just nausea, abdominal cramps or burning then it could be because of disturbance of normal bacterial flora in intestine and electrolytes imbalance occurred as a result of diarrhoea and vomiting. So,better you take complete course of antibiotics with other supportive treatment like antiemetics, prebiotics or probiotics, antispasmodics or oral rehydration etc. You may go for follow-up blood count and serum electrolytes. Consult your gastroenterologist for further advice.
