I have been diagnosed with fibroids and have been prescribed mefanamic acid which caused stomach pains and then I was prescribed traxenamic acid which was causing tummy ache again. My GP has tried to insert the coil but my uterus went into spasm and its an experience I would not like to go through again. I have requested for a more invasive treatment such as a mymectomy or hysteroscopic resection and my doctor is now referring me to a gynaecologist and the meanwhile I have been put on cerrazette. Is invasive treatment the best option?
I would have appreciated had you mentioned the size and number of your fibroids.
Mefanamic acid and Tranexamic acid raise the acidity in the stomach causing pain in the abdomen. Some proton pump inhibitor like Pantoprazole can give you relief form hyperacidity pain.
With Fibroids in the uterine walls, you should not get any intrauterine device inserted lest the risk of excessive bleeding.
Cerazette is a progestogen-only pill. It may to some extent minimize the bleeding and the size of the uterus. However, as you had suggested, removal of the fibroid with the uterus (Hysterectomy) or without uterus (Myomectomy) seem to be the best options for your treatment.
Please report to your Gynaecologist.
