Suggest Treatment For Stomach Ulcer

28, white, male. I had an endoscopy and the dr found 9 stomach ulcers. That was a week ago today. I tested negative for H Pylori. I have changed everything such as diet and smoking as they told me, but I am still having major stomach pains. I had to go back to the ER where they did some more test, but didn't find anything. I'm taking Prilosec, Pepcid and Mylanta. This morning I woke up and it felt like a cat was trying to claw its way out of my stomach. That's what it felt like the day my PCP sent me to the ER- they were bleeding. Is this intense pain normal for someone with newly diagnosed ulcers? Will it go away, or could it be something worse that hasn't shown up in my blood/urine work or during the endoscopy?

Hello
I am Dr Adil.
Now you have diagnosed with stomach ulcers (more specifically called Peptic Ulcer) and your symptoms doesn't resolve with the treatment. and endoscopy showed 9 ulcer points. Although i would also like to see the report myself and want to know the characteristics of the ulcer lesion and i would also like to know whether your biopsy of the lesion was taken during endoscopy or not.
Anyhow, Its good that your H-Pylori report is negative.

You are taking the right treatment for peptic ulcer. I would prefer newer drugs instead of Prilosec (omeprazole) such as Esomeprazole or Rabeprazole. Anyhow Prilosec is also fine and Pepcid and Mylanta also reduce the effect of acid.

It is the acid released by the stomach that is causing the problem.
You should avoid all the meals that can directly or indirectly increase the acid.

Modify your diet, avoid complex proteins (beef etc), Prefer vegetables for a while until your symptoms resolve.
Take your medication regularly. It takes time. Symptoms resolution may take up to 2 -3 weeks after initiation of treatment.
If your symptoms don't resolve after 4 weeks of treatment i would like to run some other tests. To rule out other causes of non-healing ulcers. (e.g i will do S. gastrin level etc)
I wish you well and i hope you will be fine soon.
Kind Regards.
Dr Adil Ramzan
