Suggest Treatment For Stone In Left Ureter

I am 37 years old is having a 7 mm stone in left ureter. However, there was a pain a month back. The doctor suggested the following tests - Whole Abdomen Ultrasound, NCCT-KUB, X-ray KUB. The Ultrasound reports confirmed the presence of stone is left ureter. However, X-ray KUB is negative. Now, doctor has advised to go for NCCT-KUB. Also, the doctor recommended ureteroscopic lithotripsy (UR) surgery. What should we do? Both the kidneys are functioning properly and normal is size as per ultrasound. Please advise.

Urologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist, i understand your concern, with regard to stone treatment.
You should know a few fundamentals, of tests done so far.
1.The left ureteric stone on ultrasound, has confirmed, cause of pain.
2.Plain X-ray KUB, is not an accurate test, hence stone not seen well.
3.NCCT/plain CT-KUB is advised,as it's more accurate than ultrasound.
4.A 7mm stone, may reduce in size, with medical treatment given so far, and even pass off spontaneously.
If 7mm stone still seen on plain CT scan, clear it with lithotripsy (URS).
5. Drink 12-15 glasses fluids daily, with potassium magnesium citrate syrup, till stone is out, then minimum 12 glasses daily.
If you've any other doubts, send it to me as a direct question.
