Hi i have been experiencing random gasping for air (lasting about a second) throughout the day for this past month. It feels like my heart has flipped inside my chest and i making a gasping noise like ive forgotten to breathe.I also feel a dizziness or a mini mind blank which last 2 seconds now and again. This also has just started in this last month. I feel like my brain switches off for those 2 seconds. Its quite frightening. Any ideas of what it might be?
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic. I can understand your concern. Possibility of stress and anxiety related symptoms is more. But better to rule out cardiac and Pulmonary causes for this. So first get done ecg and 2d echo to rule out cardiac diseases. Get done chest x ray and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) to rule out lung pathology. If all these reports are normal than possibility of stress and anxiety as a cause for these symptoms is more. So better to consult psychiatrist and get done counseling sessions. Try to identify stressor in your life and start working on its solution. You may need additional anxiolytic drugs too. So avoid stress and tension, be relax and calm. Don't worry, you will be alright. Hope I have solved your query. Wish you good health. Thanks.
