My four yr old feels really hot but no fever. She was diagnosed with strep but has no throat soreness. She felt really poorly but I was told no fever so she doesnt need tylenol. Finally gave tylenol anyway after hrs of hot miserable baby now shes in the floor playing and feels normal to the touch. Thermometer hasnt changed. She has asthma which is controlled with inhalers and a nebulizer as needed and she is coughing a very croupy cough now.
As per your query you son have symptoms of strep throat which could be due to bacterial infection of the upper respiratory tract.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you start with warm saline gargles and betadine gargles. For pain and swelling, you should take ibuprofen or acetaminophen. Consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis and rule out a condition like a viral infection. The doctor may prescribe antibiotics along with decongestants and anti-inflammatory. Avoid hot, sharp, spicy food substances, do warm saline rinses and carbonated beverages.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
