I have had preasure in my Right ear as if it were full of water for the past 6 years. When I pop my ear it seams to help the preasure.I also get a metal taste in my mouth around the right jaw joint area. This taste increases when I push on or message around my jaw muscle. Any ideas?

Hello,

Metal taste in the mouth around the jaw joint is indicative of tooth infection, gum disease, cavity, temporomandibular syndrome or dental abscess.

You are suggested to get clinically examined by a dentist, get X-ray, CT/MRI done. Your treatment(by medicines or surgery) will depend on the pathology detected.

In the meantime for relieve, you can take anti inflammatory & muscle relaxants for relieve.

Feeling of pressure in the ear like full of water often occurs due to cold, allergies, ear barotrauma when the patient feels pain or discomfort in the middle ear due to pressure changes in the surrounding air or water.

You are suggested not to enter swimming pools & to be careful with your ears while taking bath.

Get clinically examined by an ENT to rule out AOM, CSOM to rukle out any fluid in your ears. Your treatment (by antibiotics, anti inflammatory or surgery) will depend on the pathology detected.

In the meantime you can take NSAIDS, combiflam, one sos when needed for relieve. Take care of your oral hygiene. Gargle with warm saline water 2-3 times a day.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K
