I have a hypersensitive delayed reaction sunburn on both feet and it is the worst it has ever been. This is the fourth flare up since May. I am a chronic pain patient on both Methadone and Dilaudid. I saw the doctor last week and was given steroids and antibiotics for the sunburn. I was also prescribed Clobetasol and Lidocaine ointments which I can not use because it is too painful to even touch. I am in so much pain I can not think straight! Would be going to the emergency room be worth it or a waste of time since I already have a diagnosis and prescriptions? I just don t know if I can handle the pain.
I understand your concern for pain and restlessness on the legs after the sun burn. It appears from your query that you have repeated episodes of the same.
In case of sun burn there is more tendency of pain and burning after the repeated episodes. In most of the patients it is self resolving condition and gets better by itself.
In my patients I suggest them to apply a mild steroid lotion such as desonide for few days of period. In most of the patients it is sufficient and the skin gets peeled off to get normal color.
For maintenance therapy if I were your treating doctor then would have prescribed you a cream containing moisturizing factors to be applied at night time.
Do not apply high potency steroids such as clobetasol as can cause more damage or any other medicated cream without medical supervision. Avoid situations of direct continuous sun exposure for long hours.
All the best.
