Suggest Treatment For Sunburn On The Face

I have recently developed a sunburn on my face (cheeks). It hasnt been bothering me lately but I felt the skin and it was so rough! I looked in the mirror and saw hundreds of tiny bumps covering the area. This has never happened. I have not peeled the skin or felt any pain. I have been swimming in a salt water pool often and maybe that contributed to it? It s not a severe sunburn, just a light pink one. It has not been on any other sunburned areas, just my face. I have been staying at a hotel, maybe it s just a reaction to the sheets or something. I m only 12, and I worry it s something very bad. Help?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have sunburn on face due to which there is redness and blisters on face. . Sunburn is skin damage caused by ultraviolet (UV) rays. It usually causes the skin to become red, sore and itchy , I would suggest you to apply cold compresses 2-3 times a day or wash your face with cold water , drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrate , apply petroleum jelly on affected area , take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain and take anti histamine like bendryl . If condition doesn't get better in 2-3 days then consult dermatologist for proper examination and rule out causes like skin infection or allergic reaction . Doctor may prescribe steroid ointment , antibiotics ( clindamycin ) or vitamin C supplement for quick recovery .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
