Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Restricted Movement In The Knee

I have not engaged in any activity that would hurt my knee. But after a day of running errands, and going out to dinner, I sat down to watch some TV. I got up a couple of times with no problem. I got up to go to bed and my knee felt like it was going to give way. There was no pop or snapping sound. The was no pain, just this weird sensation that persisted through the night. This morning my knee was swollen, still no pain, limited movement. I can bear weight on it. Can I just contine to alternate hot and cold compresses several times a day and it will just heal on its own?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It could be tendon or ligament injury.

Other possibilities like locked knee have to be considered also.

If symptoms are severe, better to consult an orthopedician and get an MRI scan done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
