Suggest Treatment For Swelling In Leg And Foot After An Injury
Slam my shin against an old metal post. Small scratch but ballooned up quickly. It 's been two days but now it's still a bit swollen and my foot is also now swollen and a bit purple near the ankle. I am currently traveling in China at the moment.
I don't think it's bad enough to go to the hospital?..or is it?
Sorry to hear about your problem. You probably have a lot of tissue fluid and blood which would have gravitated down your leg to the foot and hence the swelling. It is also possible that the skin over the shin bruise is infected, following the injury, causing swelling down the leg and foot. Either way, you need to keep your leg elevated on a pillow, ice the swollen part, avoid walking, and you need an antibiotic and perhaps an x ray to rule out a hairline fracture on the shin.
Hope this helps
