Suggest Treatment For Swelling In Stomach With Loss Of Appetite

sir, my fathers stomach swelled and now it become harder when we touch we feel this. He is also not showing interest in taking food & sometimes he is taking little food. He also have problem in toilet. what is the reason. Which specialist doctor i have to consult. Please specify a doctor in my locality i.e berhampur, orissa. with reagards sharat kumar sahu

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about your Father having distention of abdomen, loss of appetite, taking little food, problem in toilet, constipation I think; wants to know which Specialist to show and wants to know the specific Doctor in Berhampur Orissa.
The causes can be:
Intestinal obstruction.
Ascites wherein fluid accumulates in the abdomen.
Mass in the abdomen and so on.
I would advise you the following:
You have to see the General Surgeon or Gastroenterologist Surgeon.
You can ask you Family Doctor and he would guide you the best or you can consult a Surgeon in nearby Medical College.
He will need the following and if possible get this done as soon as possible locally so that time is not wasted at higher centers.
X-ray of the abdomen in standing position.
Ultrasonography.
Tests of blood, urine and stool.
Clinical evaluation.
All these things will lead to a proper diagnosis and give a plan for further treatment.
