Suggest Treatment For Swelling On Hand

I recently was hitting a punching bag with my friends...i neglected to wrap my hand...i have received and x-ray on my right hand. It shows no breaks or fractures. It is swollen in between the 4th and 5th metacarpal. The swelling has gone down a lot and the bruising is fading...but in between the 4th and 5th metacarpal is still swollen and very sore. My hand tightens up very quickly if not used. My main concern is knowing any tell-tale signs of clots. My arm is bruised halfway down my wrist...i know soft tissue and blood vessels were damaged pretty bad. I still seem to have sensation (touch) and no numbness that i can tell. Is there anything i can do to help reduce swelling a week after, or any signs to look for. Thanks a lot
