Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a bad knee that has been problematic for years but is now almost insufferable. It is swollen and restricts movement and can hurt if I over stress it. However of greater concern to me, is that I ll wrap it to gain some mobility, but at the end of the day, the lower leg is swollen and seems only to improve with rest and sleep overnight.
Hello ! You haven't mentioned any particular medical diagnosis , that your doctor might have told you , nor your age. If its age related arthritis of the knee joint , its possible to be much painful , especially if there has been no conservative intervention like physiotherapy . Do get yourself evaluated by a physio to know if physiotherapy could help you or no , and maybe refer you to an orthopaedic for further investigations and treatment if needed. If the wrap is causing swelling in the lower limbs , its being put on incorrectly ! Loads of treatment options are available for painful knees - including Kinesiotaping methods , Dry needling techniques (for muscular issues, where indicated after proper evaluation ) , conventional electrotherapy , hydrotherapy , insoles if concurrent foot problems are diagnosed and muscle strengthening programs . Hope this helps , please seek professional help than bearing the pain ! Tc .
