Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Painful Hand Injury
Hi, my daughter has a small cut on her hand. She got it a few days ago but it was itchy and has scratched the scab off. Since coming home from school it has swollen and looks like there is puss in there. It s red around it and seems to have a red streak going up her wrist. She said her arm feels achy up to just past her wrist. I m thinking infection, but am just making sure it can wait until the doctors in the morning really. Thanks

Your daughter seems to have developed a localised cellulitis or infection.
Keep the affected area clean and dry .
Wash the affected area with lukewarm saline water twice daily.
Apply a topical antibiotic cream like neosporin or mupirocin over the lesion twice daily.
She might need a course of oral antibiotics if the lesion still tends to persist or increase.
