Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Painful Knee After An Injury

I fell down twisting my knee last week. It was slightly swollen, but not bad. I have had knee issues since I was a teen, sports and horses. So I let it go thinking in a few days it would feel better. Still slightly swollen, and hurts nearly in every way possible. I can walk with difficulty, but it locks up sometimes or gives out and I almost fall to the ground. Sometimes it almost feels as though my knee cap locks and makes it hard to bend, or sometimes feels like it snags on something. The inside of my knee hurts (its my left knee), and the back of my knee hurts as if there is a tare back there right down the middle of the back of my knee. Called my doctor, but I can't get in till the middle of December.

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query. Your problem is most likely a meniscal injury. Examination with an orthopedician followed by a x ray and MRI if necessary of knee will rule out that. For such case i advise immobilization of knee in elastic bandage and quadriceps strengthening exercises. NSAIDs like nimusulide will be helpful to relieve pain. If there is no improvement in pain or injury is more extensive then i recommend diagnostic arthroscopy and correction also done through that. Hope this may help you.
Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
