Hello. Thank you for writing to us I suggest a likely possibility of an acne nodule/ cyst. The fact that it is red and painful suggests that it has inflammation. I advice you against squeezing it as this may push it deeper. If I was the treating doctor I would have suggested you a course of an Oral antibiotic. My choice of an oral antibiotic for an inflammatory acne nodule would be either Azithromycin Or Minocycline. Oral antibiotics would help in resolving an inflammatory acne lesion faster. They may be stopped once the lesion resolves i.e usually within 2 weeks and if there are no more inflammatory acne. Topically you may use an antiacne topical antibacterial e.g either benzoyl peroxide 2.5% gel or clindamycin 1% gel, twice daily. Oral and topical antiacne medications are prescription products therefore I suggest that you visit a dermatologist for a confirmatory diagnosis as well as for the needful. Regards
