Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had an appendectomy about 6 months ago is it normal to get swelling and bloating in the lower stomach this long after? I have also had difficulty sleeping the last few months I have tried several sleeping aids nothing seems to work. I get bad headaches most days and terrible mood swings
Appendectomy has nothing to with abdominal distension and bloating. You need some dietary modifications. Please decrease intake of high protein and high fat diet as these may cause constipation and bloating of abdomen. Increase water intake. Don't drink a lot of coffee, don't have a lots of chocolates. Please take any proton pump inhibitor like pantoprazole once a day empty stomach daily.
