Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am experiencing unexplained swelling in my feet and ankles. I have taken metabolic comprehensive tests and all are normal, nothing flagged, unrinalysis is normal, CBC normal. Blood pressure good and am at good weight and active. Yet feet swelling seems to come and go, does not necessarily improve with elevation. I am 56 but a Personal Trainer and in good shape. I am perplexed as to why I am starting to experience this?
It is necessary performing a cardiac ultrasound and checking NT prob BNP levels in order to exclude possible heart failure. I would also advice performing a Doppler ultrasound of the leg vessels in order to exclude possible chronic vein insufficiency.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka
