Suggest Treatment For Swollen Glands Under Jaw Bone
my grandson , which is nine years of age has been having swelling under his toung and neck under the jaw-bone..A oralsurgeon said that it was the submandibula gland and recommended that he sees a ENT and demand that it be removed. The swelling has been on and off for over two years. He went to the dentist for a cleaning and x-rays when it finaly showed up . which the dentist sent us to the oral surgeonand the oral surgeon is sending us to the ENT. What are the risk of having the gland removed? How serious is the surgery?

The symptoms you mention in query are clearly pointing towards blockage of duct of salivary gland with stone or any foreign body . A salivary gland stone also called salivary duct stone is a calcified structure that may form inside a salivary gland or duct. It can block the flow of saliva into the mouth. This is the reason for on and off swelling . There are methods for removing stone from the duct like suck on lemon candy and slight probe with instrument . If these techniques doesn't work the the removal of gland will the the only option left and this is very safe . These days doctors are using a newer and less invasive technique called sialendoscopy to remove salivary gland stones. So consult ENT specialist and get it treated .
