Suggest Treatment For Swollen Knee

I recently (in the past two months) started running. This week I noticed that my left knee is swoolen. The back of my left knee is swoolen, it feels like a pulling and like it has to crack all the time, and it will. I can not Kneel on it. I have been putting ice on it every night. What do u think is wrong?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

I appreciate your concern. I am interested to know your age and any problem in the knee earlier off and on. It could be a simple strain in knee ligaments or early stages of degenerative arthritis. I would advise you to consult orthopedic expert to investigate and find out the cause. You may be advised to do X-rays of the knee. MRI, if needed, blood tests to rule out crystal arthropathy or other arthritis.cold packs, analgesics and splinting may be suggested by orthopedic expert.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. DEORISHI TRIPATHI,
