Suggest Treatment For Swollen Toenail

Hello. I have had an ingrown toenail problem for many years and i learned how to get rid of them myself. I let this one go a little bit too long before i cut it out. I cut it out and now the skin that was where the nail was has swollen up to the side of the nail. It makes it painful to do much activity. It bleeds a good bit and i soak it every day in warm water and epsom salt. I would really appreciate some advice on how to make it heal faster.

Hi,

You might be suffering from acute paronychia. It is a bacterial infection so topical and systemic antibiotic is needed to treat this. FUSIDIC acid is preferred for topical and Amoxicillin Clavulanate is preferred for systemic antibiotics, along with this hot fomentation and anti inflammatory drugs like Diclofenac is also given for 5 to 7 days.

Hope it helps. If you have any other question please do not hesitate to contact again.
