Suggest Treatment For Tenderness And Swelling In The Leg Post An Injury

I fell heavily on my left leg below the knee, the area is numb to the touch but tender and swollen. I have bruising in the heel also which is weird cause my leg was suspended. The incident occurred 5 days ago. I can walk on it with the occasional limp. Any ideas?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Most likely you have injured the soft tissue in your leg below the knee.

I suggest painkillers and ice packs.

Get an X-ray to rule out a minor fracture.

If you are not able to walk pain-free, then use a cane on the right side to support your weight.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Gopal Goel,
