Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband, age 52 has chronic back and neck pain, has had Lyme disease twice and now has a pinched nerve in his back causing pain down his leg and arm. He has seen an orthopedic surgeon who diagnosed him as having tennis elbow, gave him 3 cortisone shots and said that s about it. I am not convinced that is all that can be done. What kind of a doctor can I take him to and what are potential treatments.
Dear Sir/Madam, Thanks for seeking help on your issue; I have gone through your symptoms, and in my opinion, tennis elbow is quite a recalcitrant condition and three shots of steroid is too much, do not give any more injections, let me tell you that this tennis elbow treatment demands life style modification, do not lift heavy weight with your painful limb, use tennis elbow band , do stretching exercises under guidance of your physio to stretch the muscles of extensor of wrist, also use of PRP has been found to have some good effect, even autologous blood injection can help. the best doctor for you to contact is a Hand surgeon who is trained to treat such conditions. I hope I have been able to provide you with a satisfactory solution, if you want to clear any doubts about my opinion, feel free to contact. Special note- Any medication prescribed needs to be taken after consultation with your personal doctor only. Thanks Dr. Narender Saini
