My dear friend,

I have gone through your history. It is evident from your narration that you had unprotected sex just 6 days prior to the expected menses; i.e. on 22nd to 24th day of the menses. the chances of pregnancy due to this intercourse are very remote.

In women egg is released 14 days prior to the next expected menses. The egg has got life of 24 hours while the sperms are active for 72 hours. Hence the fertile period is of about 1 week around the day of egg release. Your unprotected intercourse seems to have happened after the fertile period. Of course this is not 100% guaranteed method to avoid pregnancy.

Now please get the pregnancy confirmed by urine pregnancy test and/or ultrasonography 8-10 days after she has missed period. Earlier, these tests may give false negative results.

The pregnancy can be very safely, easily and successfully terminated by medical method. Mifepristone followed by Misoprostol can effect the termination of pregnancy. These medicines have to be taken by Obstetrician's prescription and under observation to monitor completion of termination and any complications like bleeding. They have got very good success rate.

If these medicines fail, then the pregnancy should NOT be continued since there is risk of abnormality occurring in the baby due to these medicines. The pregnancy should be terminated surgically if these medicines are ineffective.
