Suggest Treatment For Terrible Hives All Over My Body After Taking Cephalexin For 10 Days
I have been taking Cephalexin (500mg) for 10 days. On the 10th at (last day to take meds) I had a small rash develop on my upper arms. Now (Sunday) it s everywhere on my upper body, huge hives, in my scalp too. I am miserable..Byrendal and Hydrocortisone cream not helping much. Any thoughts?
This could possibly due to a delayed allergic reaction to the prescribed antibiotic (Cephalexin). Usually these symptoms should subside once the antibiotic is stopped. Since your symptoms are persistent event after application of Hydrocortisone cream, a physical examination and further investigation needs to be performed to understand the nature of the hives and treatment should be given.
If it is confirmed as an allergic reaction to the prescribed antibiotic, please always inform the physician that you are allergic to cephalosporins (Cephalexin s a cephalosporin type of antibiotic), hence this class of antibiotic will be avoided in future.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
