I have been having thick tongue feeling for awhile now and it s like the back of my it is coated. Today I stuck my tongue out as far as it would go and I noticed these finger like things on it. I scraped them off with my finger and it was like scraping dead skin off. The feeling of thickness has not gone away. I have a broken molar and have had for about a year. The tooth doesn t bother me but the stuff on my tongue does.
Your explanation of thick feeling of the tongue along with coating on tongue that is scrap-able can be most probably due to yeast infection causing Oral Thrush.
Many a times if the coating is yellowish then it can be due to hairy tongue causing deposits of debris and food particles over the tongue. It is especially more pronounced at the back of the tongue.
So, my suggestion is to scrape your tongue with a tongue cleaner. You should gargle with 1:1 solution of hydrogen peroxide and water.
You can dip a soft toothbrush in this solution and gently clean the tongue. Also gargle with Nystatin mouthwash.
You should eat hard foods like carrots, apple and other hard foods. Drink plenty of water and chew sugar free chewing gums.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
