Suggest Treatment For Throat Irritation Due To Tube Insertion

I had Left Carotid Endarterectomy on July 18, 2014. I still have throat congestion and hoarseness from the tube inserted in my throat during surgery. How long will it take to clear up? Should I be taking anything to facilitate healing my throat irritation?

Hi,

Welcome to HCM.

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Post procedure hoarseness and sore throat take time to resolve, in case of persistence, you need to be evaluated with laryngoscopy (office based procedure by an ent surgeon for the exact cause. meanwhile you can do simple steam inhalation and give absolute voice rest.

Wishing you good health.
