Suggest Treatment For Tightness And Pain In The Neck

Last night, while barefoot, I slipped down only three carpeted stairs. I caught myself on the bannister, before I hit the bottom. I had some slight pain in my neck and tightening of my neck and upper traps last night. Today my neck and upper back are very stiff. I ve been stretching, applying heat and taking Ibuprofen but the pain is increasing and my muscles are continuing to tighten. For reference I have had the diagnosis of sever whiplash in my neck after a severe car accident in 2005 which has led to upper back and neck pain causing chronic migraines. I m wondering if I should see a doctor or ride out the pain and stiffness for a few days. Thank you for your time and consideration on this matter.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that you slipped from stairs . It may be a muscular and soft tissue injury. However you should get x ray done to exclude fracture . Treatment of it is rest, icing and analgesics (diclofenac ). Muscle relaxant such as thiocolchicoside also give relief. Vitamin B-complex and Vitamin C supplementation can used to promote healing. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it. I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care.
