Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Suggest Treatment For Tightness In Chest And Fast Heart Rate
For the past three days my chest tightens up and I feel like its harder to breath. Every now and then my arm feels like it has a lot of pressure up around the shoulder when this occurs. My heartbeat also feels like it s getting faster. This happens several times a day and it stay with me a little longer each time it comes. I really hate to go to the hospital for anything.
Anyway, before coming to this conclusion, I would recommend consulting with your attending physician for a physical exam and some tests:
- a resting ECG
- a chest X-ray study
- complete blood count for anemia
- thyroid hormone levels for thyroid gland dysfunction
- blood electrolytes for possible imbalance.
An ambulatory 24-48 hours ECG monitoring would help examine your heart rhythm trends for a prolonged time and exclude possible cardiac arrhythmia.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka,
Cardiologist
