Suggest Treatment For Tingling And Numbness In Feet

My mother, 80 years old, has had tingling and numbness on the bottom of her feet and now it has gravitated up to her ankles along with the tingling on the bottom of her feet. She is overweight, but has not been diagnosed with diabetes. The doctors have said neuropathy, but no medication s appear to help. Could it be something else?

HI

Greetings from Dr.Divakara.P
Thanks for posting your query.

It is neuropathy but the cause has to be found out . If not diabetes then she needs to be tested for the other causes of Neuropathy.

I advise her to get the following test done and revert back .

Serum B12 and Folate Levels, Lead and Mercury levels in hair, Nerve conduction study of both legs .

Also let me know the medications she is taking along with the dose and duration . Because medicines for neuropathy takes at least 2-3 weeks to show some effect.

Kindly revert back with details asked and test reports.

Regards.
