I intelligently began vapor cigarettes as an anxiety thought help. I had been a cig. Smoker several years sgo. Also, I am a lung cancer survivor 2014). I know it is idiotic, I have had several major life changes I have no control over and I bought an ecig menthol and I Liked it. I thought it may be not too bad, ha ha. I m in my 50 s now.
Vaping has the advantage that it is nicotine replacement (shown to double likelihood of quitting). It still has risks and is of course still addictive. It can be lowered milligram by milligram.
The main issue is what is triggering the addiction. If it is constant level of nicotine being needed in the blood (high levels of cigarettes, biggest craving being in the a.m.), then vaping and lowering the nicotine is important. If it is cues then working on those is important. I have a book on cues and eating.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Ok, first, with the vaping one can dial back the addictive component (nicotine) gradually over time. Then, the harm is still there if there is no nicotine but substituting other oral things like gum could be done. Setting a quit date, telling people when it is also is helpful.
