Hi I have a corn on my toe from shoe rubbing while on vacation, ( walked a lot!) It s red and a little swollen I ve been using corn removal pads for a few days and it seems less painful. Skin turned white directly on the corn and its a little itchy. Is there anything else I should do? Also should I continue using removal pads? Thanks, Suzan
As you said you suffer from corn. It is a benign hard keratotic lesion in conical shape. There may be pain when it is pressed. As the skin is red,it means that it is secondarily infected by bacteria. You may take antibiotics and anti inflammatory drugs. Avoid corn tape as it might irritate the surrounding skin. I would recommend salicylic acid 12% solution to apply on the lesion daily till good result. Wear shoes having soft insole. Avoid to wal barefooted. I hope this would help you for cure of corn.
I can understand your concern for corn. It is a tough hyperkeratotic inverse conical lesion on sole. There may be pain on pressure by walking. You might feel discomfort. You consult dermatologist for firm diagnosis and treatment.
I usually recommend salicylic acid lotion 12% like salactin to apply on lesion twice a say till its removal. You may take a short course of antibiotics with anti inflammatory drugs.
Wear soft insoled shoes. Avoid bare footed walking. Have patience for the good result.
Thanks.
