my son is 13 months and the ENT specialists just diagnosed acute tonsilitis and suggested a surgery be performed on him to take it out.my question is this,is there any other option apart from the surgery? because it wasnt detected in time and has become really inflamed and enlarged
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Don't operate on your child while he is having infection. Give him antibiotic Tablet Amoxicillin twice daily x 7 days. Take tablet Levocetirizine 1 tab at bedtime for 7 days. Start taking beta done gargle thrice daily for 7 days. If he is having episodes of infection more than 5 in a year surgery is needed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
