Suggest Treatment For Tonsillar Abscess

My son is 25 years old. He was diagnosed with a tonscillar abscess on December 24, 2014. The dx was made after CT scan. His condition worsened and on December 29, 2014 he returned to the ER where the abscess was eventually lanced (lots of puss an blood). The doctor sent a sample of the drainage for culture, we never heard the results. He was prescribed an antibiotic for 10 days which he finished. About two weeks ago, he developed a sore just outside his nose that grew into a large swollen pustule which resulted in lots of pain and sleeplessness. He went to an urgent care clinic on Saturday, January 31, 2015. The nurse practitioner told him she thought it might be a staph infection. She prescribed an antibiotic. The sore is still producing puss today Wednesday, February 4, 2015. Is this infection related to the peri-tonscillar abscess? Does he have MRSA? He does not have a primary care physician yet...He made an appointment with a new primary care physician for this Friday (two more days away). Is this too serious to wait to be seen by doctor on Friday or should he do something sooner. He told me he had blood all over pillow this morning. Please advise. Thank you
