Hello. I am a 23 y/o male otherwise fit and well. I currently have tonsillitis and on day 3 of erythromycin. Today I have noticed an inspiratory wheeze but only on forceful inhalation (i.e. right before a big cough) but I wouldn t describe it as stridor. My tonsils are mildly swollen (with exudates) and are not obstructive, however I have noticed that my epiglottis is very visible when I examine the back of my throat. I am worried that this is not normal and may be indicative of epiglottitis? Thoughts?
Tonsillitis and epiglotitis have same treatment. So you need not to wrry about that. Erythromycine will cover both. Please follow certain other advises: Don't eat or dring too much cold or spicy. Take paracetamol or ibuprofen for pain and fever. Take levocetirizine for cold or allergy. Take protein rich food like pulses and eggs. Take liquids more than solid food. Fruit juices are more advisable. Take proper rest for a week. Take care and thanks for contacting us.
