Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

I read your question and understand your concern.

I would like to know the symptoms of your TIA. Did you do any brain MRI? Have you suffered from high blood pressure before?

If a TIA is suspected, further investigations should be performed to establish the cause (which may be cardio-embolic or athero-sclerotic ).

There is no specific treatment, because according its definition ( transient ischemic attack), it is not a permanent state.

The main aim of the therapy is to prevent further possible TIAs or strokes.

If the cause is cardioembolic, anticoagulation or antiarrhythmic therapy may be needed.

In case of atherosclerotic cause, aspirin beside antihypertensive therapy and statins would be necessary.

I would recommend a complete check up, including a resting ECG or 24 hour ECG monitoring if suspected, a chest x ray, a Doppler ultrasound of cervical vessels and routine blood tests including cholesterol , to establish the cause.

Hope to have been of help!

Greetings! Dr. Iliri
