Suggest Treatment For Type 2 Diabetes

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...

My husband is Type II Diabetes, does not take it seriously. He takes his blood randomly and said it's a little high when it's 171. Is that high and time to worry?

Hello there,
I would have liked to know some more details before I tell you about your husbands Diabetes control. Whether or not he is on any medications for diabetes. If he is then it would be ideal to check blood sugars in fasting and post 2 hours of a meal. Random checking doesnt give us much information. However a reading of 171 random is not very high. I also do not know his age, again if he is under 40 then we prefer a blood sugar of 120-160 in random state.
However do not ignore the control of diabetes as the control achieved during the early part of diabetes goes a long way in preventing complications in later part of life when control can be difficult to achieve.
Continue diet and exercise regimen as advised to him and also if he is on medications then let him continue and do not change medicines without consulting a diabetologist.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
