I am 25 year old girl suffering from ulcerative colitis from last 4 years. Doctor had prescribed me masacol according to my situation. In june, 2013 symptoms were again appeared( that time i was taking homeopathic medicine). After few months, I stopped taking homeopathy and then another doctor prescribed me masacol with steroid in the month of November(2013). With improving my situation,I had stopped taking steroid(with follow up). Now in June , the symptoms again appear. Doctor prescribed me Azoran 75mg per day. I want to ask for how much time, I should take Azoran ? Also, is this OK to decrease power of masacol with improving the health condition.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history and understood your concerns. Ulcerative colitis is a recurrent problems and sort of an autoimmune disease with so many instigating or enhancing factors that one can really get hold of. Hence the best way is to identify and list up all such factors that cause the problems and to stop them altogether. Colonoscopy and biopsy gives proper diagnosis and hence should be done whenever necessary. Medicine when required have to be taken and hence be under care of a Gastroenterologist so have regular reviews.
