Suggest Treatment For Umbilical Hernia

Although this really isn t what this is here for I m super desperate for help and hoping this may help me. Trying to find a plastic or general surgeon who accepts Blue Shield PPO (not covered California) in the Los Angeles County. I have been to 4 ER s in the past week in desperate pain trying to have surgery done on a EXTREMELY painful hernia. It is a umbilical hernia that is not incarcerated/strangulated or otherwise considered to be an emergency surgery however I absolutely cannot deal with the pain any longer and need it done as soon as physically possible, praying this week, as both mentally and physically I cannot go on any longer because of the pain. I m having some hesitation because I am a previous head injury patient and suffer from chronic pain as a result, and on 10mg Oxycontin 2x/day and 15mg of Oxycodone 3x/day to manage the pain. Because of the high amount of pain meds, ER doctors have been unable to manage the hernia pain at home until the current surgeon can do it (April 28). I also am 290lbs, making it also a little more complicated. The hernia on CT is considered to be small umbilical hernia with adipose tissue praying someone reads this and is compassionate to my situation and willing to do surgery on someone with the above issues. I can of course come in for examination, but because I ve seen so many people already, it would have to be someone willing to do it this week if they are comfortable with the exam, and be willing to do it in hospital as post-operative pain control likely needs to be managed by pain management for a day or 2.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Consult a general surgeon and get evaluated. You can plan for a laparoscopic hernia repair. It is relatively better techniques and has got best results especially in umbilical hernia.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
