Suggest Treatment For Umbilical Pain

I have been having pain behind my umbilicus for about a year and a half. The pain always appears on the first day of my menstrual cycle and continues for up to a week. Occasionally, the pain will appear at other times of the month as well. It hurts to bend at the waist. I went to a doctor, who couldn t find anything wrong. I also had an upper and lower abdominal ultrasound, which also came up negative for problems. However, the pain is not going away, so I m at a loss as to what to try next.

Gastroenterologist 's  Response
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist (DM). Pain at the umnlical site may be due to intestinal colic or acid peptic disease which ultrasound can not pick. So I will suggest you to either go endoscopy and CT scan of abdomen first to confirm or take treatment empirically. Among medications take a proton pump inhibitor like rabeprazole and mild antispasmodic agent like drotavarine.
I hope I have answered your query and this will help you. If you have any further query I will be happy to answer that too. Remain in touch and get-well soon.
