Suggest Treatment For Under-active Thyroid

I have a underactive thyroid and take Synthroid every morning. I have gained over 35 pounds in the last two years and no matter how well I eat, the scale doesn t move much. I have a disability that does limit my walking. Is excercise the only way to lose this weight? I am through menopause and am 56 years old. I want to be 135 pounds. What can I do and eat?

Hi Ma'am
First of all, continue Synthyroid as it will normalize your thyroid hormone. You need to undergo regular (6 monthly) serum TSH level (test) to manage your hormone levels.
You can follow some dietary managements like increase intake of fiber (fruits & vegetables), use ispaghula husk regularly to reduce weight & to avoid constipation, take small & frequent meals instead of 3 heavy meals.
If your serum TSH becomes normal, you will not be gaining more weight. Follow these habits too. Hopefully my answer satisfied you.
